I rarely write reviews but just had to let everyone know how much I enjoy using my new bread slicer. Quality is great, shipping fast, and an overall wonderful experience ordering it. Even the most experienced bakers can make mistakes when slicing bread that lead to uneven slices or crushed loaves. One of the most common errors is applying too much pressure while slicing. This can squish the loaf and give you uneven or squished slices.


Using a bread slicer for homemade bread helps with consistency but you have to let the bread cool completely before slicing. Slicing warm bread gives you gummy, misshapen slices because the steam inside the loaf hasn’t had time to dissipate.


Another mistake is pushing the loaf against the bread stop while slicing. The bread stop is only there to line up the cut before slicing starts. Don’t push the loaf against the stop while slicing.


Not sharpening or replacing your bread cutter regularly makes slicing bread harder and gives you torn or jagged slices.


Many people also forget to adjust their slicing technique based on the type of bread they’re cutting. For example a crusty artisan loaf requires a different approach than a soft sandwich bread.
